Gold Ore Tailings

Tailings are a by-product of a gold mining process that was common in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Gold-bearing rocks that also contain arsenic were crushed and spread over liquid mercury to remove the gold. The mercury was then evaporated, leaving the gold. The remaining sand-like substance, known as tailings, was typically dumped into
low-lying areas or lakes and streams near the mine. Some mercury was lost through spills and has accumulated in the tailings.

The size and composition of the tailings varies depending on the mining method. In hardrock metal mining the ore is usually crushed, then processed, resulting in very fine particles that may also contain chemicals used for mineral extraction.

Gold Ore Tailing Recycling Application

The comprehensive utiliziont of gold mine tailings includes two aspects. First, recycling, the tailings are reelected as a secondary resource to realize comprehensive recovery of useful minerals. Second tailing are to be used tialings directly as non-metallic minerals. Based on the actual situation, mine should choose one or a combination of both to achieve full use of the tailings resource.

In gold tailing recycling process, the waste materials will be first collected. They will be conveyed into crushing plant for size reduction. If necessary, grinding plant will be applied to produce fine particle size. And then the fine materials will be processed by gravity separator, flotation machine or magnetic separator to refine the concentrates.
