Crusher Type for Stone Aggregates Production

Construction aggregate is a wide range of coarse particulate material used in construction, including sand, gravel, crushed stone, slag, recycled concrete and geosynthetic aggregates.

In stone aggregate production plant, the quarry is equipped with drilling and blasting techniques (for demanding blasting works such as demolition of buildings, underwater blasting, micro blasting, etc.), loading and material handling and conveying machines as well as crushing and sieving machines.

Primary Crushing

Jaw crusher, impact crusher, or gyratory crushers are usually applied in primary stone size reduction. The crushed stone normally 3 to 12 inches in diameter, and the undersize particle sizes are discharged onto a belt conveyor and usually are conveyed for further processing or used as coarse aggregates.

Secondary Crushing

The crushed aggregate which is too large to pass through the top deck of the scalping screen is will be further crushed in the secondary crusher. Cone crushers or impact crusher are often used for secondary crushing, which typically reduces material to about 1 to 4 inches.

Tertiary Crushing

Tertiary crushing is usually performed using mobile cone crushers or other types of impactor crushers. Oversize material from the top deck of the sizing screen is fed to the tertiary crusher. The tertiary crusher output, which is typically about 3/16th to 1 inch, is returned to the sizing screen.

The fine crushed stone maybe then conveyed to other processing systems such as washing, air separators, and screens and classifiers for the production of aggregate or manufactured sand.
